Once again.....

Once again, we have a girl name all picked out (if its a girl!), but we have not settled on a boy name (if its a boy!).

This happened to us with Austin - he was BBD (Baby Boy Drevlow) for the first half day of his life before we named him. Actually, I had come up with Austin Karl when Michael and I were in the car driving a few weeks before our due date....and we agreed that it would be a good name. Austin from my brother's middle name, and Karl from Michael's younger brother's middle name. But then, 2-3 days before Austin arrived, Michael says this to me: "I'm not so sure I like it anymore..." UGH, are you kidding me? You can't do this to a mother-to-be who has everything in place, everything ready....its not fair. But, after a half day of not being able to call our baby by a name, Michael said "We need to name him. I can't not call him by a name....tell the nurses its Austin Karl."

So that was that.

Now we're stuck again - with a girl name but no boy name.....and I need some suggestions or input - please! We keep coming back to the same ones, the ones I have listed in the poll....but we haven't said: "That's it; that's the one!" Maybe we'll choose a name that we haven't even contemplated yet! Who knows?!

Jammies

Tonight's conversation between myself and dear Austin...

Austin: Momma, you put my jammies on.
Momma: Why, are you tired already?
Austin: Yeah. You do it. Want my jammies on...come on.
Momma: Ok, lets go up and put your jammies on.

We head upstairs...

Austin: Momma, are you gonna sleep with me?
Momma: No, I'm not going to sleep with you.
Austin: Why not?
Momma: You're a big boy, and you can lay down in your own bed and go to sleep by yourself.
Austin: Oh.

So he crawls in by himself, and that is that.

All is quiet here.....why can't he do this every night?

Gotta go get that big boy bed this week....!

Simplify

Ok, so I haven't had time to get on here and babble...I mean blog. I've been undertaking the 'junk' that has been overtaking my home. Ugh! I don't know if it is just that I want to settle in before winter hits and I'm busy with baby (and Austin), or if it is just that I need to feel renewed, cleansed, rid of stuff, or if it is the pregnancy thing kicking in. You know, the 'nesting period' moms go through before they bring a new living being into existence. So, I've been tackling areas of our home bit by bit...and I'm winning! I have piles to donate, piles to eBay, and piles to rummage sale this coming summer (hint, hint Wendy & Mom!) . It feels so incredibly good. Simplify. Simplify. SIMPLIFY. How did/do I end up with so much stuff, anyway?!

Grab ahold and smile!

Since our due date falls on a Tuesday, I set up the tripod each Tuesday and take a side profile picture of my belly. I unfortunately have to do this myself, since when I started when I was first pregnant with Austin I had Michael start doing it. The first 'photo shoot' was 10 (yes, 10) horrible pictures - either they were too zoomed in, my head was cut off, or it was just ... horrible. Needless to say, he did not inherit his mother's ability to take a great photo! So, in came the tripod and my husband was relieved of his photography duties. Now as I am doing this for this baby, Austin usually watches, and on the last shot joins me in my arms for a picture. However, this past Tuesday, he decided he didn't want up, he just wanted to reach up and grab ahold of my belly and smile for the camera. Awwww, how cute...

All FIRED up!

On Sunday, we went to the fifth annual Get Fired Up for Safety in downtown Marshfield with Grandpa Bob and Grandma Cheryl - they came to visit us! Austin was excited to see all the different fire trucks, ladder trucks, and ambulances....

He got to try on a helmet - it was so heavy, when the firefighter put it on his head, he was afraid to move!

Touching and sitting on the fire truck was so exciting.....

..but he loved sitting in the fire trucks even more! So, we went from truck...

...to truck....
...and he even got to squirt water at some floating ducks!

He had a fun time on Sunday. We were downtown today since I had to run some errands, and he was asking where all the fire trucks went. I guess we'll have to go back next year! He'll be a little older so he can do more things with the firefighters and their demonstrations and games.

Little pokes

Our little baby in-utero has been developing and growing for 30 weeks and 4 days now....boy, the time sure is going fast! He or she will be here before we know it.

Today we had another prenatal visit, and this is the first one Austin's been to. He saw the nurse weigh me, take my blood pressure, then we waited for another nurse to come measure my belly (uterus) and listen to the baby's heartbeat. He paid close attention to everything happening to mom. Then the nurse asked if Austin wanted to hear his heartbeat, and he shook his head 'yes', so she slapped some gel on the fetal heart monitor, he lifted up his shirt, and the nurse put the monitor on his chest and we all listened to his heart. He thought it was pretty cool, and kept looking at my belly while listening to his own heart beating. Then the doctor came in and we chatted for a bit, then I got my flu shot. On the way out I checked with Pediatrics and got him in right then and there for his; he was so brave! He laid back and held my hands, then got his little poke and was all done. No tears! He got a sticker for his bravery.

Not long after we got home he started telling me his leg hurt, "right here, mom, the hole in my leg hurts". "Where you got your little poke today, just like momma got one in her arm?" "Yeah, little poke. I need some medicine...make it feel all better." So I gave him a little Tylenol and the world was right once again.

But now my arm is sore!

At the Zoo

Sometimes they belong in a zoo...

This past weekend we packed up the car and spent some time with friends in Minnesota. Ed and Sarah have two boys, Charley and Henry. Charley is close to Austin's age - they're about a year apart. Henry is a little baby, close to being one. It is always a treat watching Austin interact with other kids - even though he does that on a daily basis at school, its not too often that I get to 'spy' on him before he sees me and drops everything and comes running. So this weekend I enjoyed watching him play with Charley and 'baby' (aka Henry).

Sarah and I took the kids to the zoo on Saturday...and it was Austin's first time at a zoo and he loved it. He still talks about all the animals we saw....the big bears swimming back and forth in front of the glass, putting their paws right up to his hand...the tigers, leopards, monkeys, and of course, the shark.

Austin loved interacting with Henry, too - he was curious, and watched him from the corner of his eye. I know Austin will be a great big brother....he' starting to understand things a little better now that my belly is getting bigger and he can feel the baby move. He loves to give my belly 'zurbits'...

Hopefully we'll be able to go back to the cities next spring/summer and visit another zoo with the Wroblewski's!
