Accidents have the opportunity to be great; they yield favorable, unpredictable outcomes. (cures for diseases in the lab, cooking, photographs...I think you get the point. I just love those outcomes...) BUT, in other cases, the outcome is ugly any way you look at it. We had an 'almost accident' the other week. The outcome would have been....ugly. It 'almost happened'. It caused my heart and head great emotional worry for a few hours, then it subsided. Later on, out of the blue, Austin recreated the 'almost accident scene' with his vehicles and hailed me over to 'come look, mama'. I was surprised at the accuracy, although he added two vehicles to the 'scene'.
This is his scene...
As you most likely have figured out, my vehicle is the grey one, T-boning the orange vehicle. What had happened, in real life, was that Michael was driving my car, with me in the front passenger seat, Ethan immediately behind me, and Austin in the middle backseat. We were following another vehicle, a junky SUV, that had slowed down, and we had assumed, like anyone else would have, that it was slowly veering to the right to make a right hand turn. So, we slowed down, too. What we did not think of, was that this IDIOT was veering to the right in order to turn sharply to the left to turn around and go the other way. Did I mention idiot? So, Michael (thank GOD he was paying attention and not looking at the cows like Austin and I were), slammed on the breaks and kept our vehicle from hitting theirs. The guy was stunned, like he was surprised to see us there. I'm still amazed I kept my mouth shut as far as profanity goes....According to the picture, we hit the junker and the ambulance and police car showed up...
Again, there was no accident, no other vehicles showed up.
Whew. That was a close one.
