We went 'Up North' to Bayfield/Washburn for two nights last week. Michael and I celebrated 8 years of marriage with a night sans kids and stayed at the Rittenhouse Inn on Thursday evening, a B&B in Bayfield (thanks Grandma Cheryl and Grandpa Bob!). It was nice to have uninterrupted adult time together. We enjoyed walking around Bayfield - for fudge, and a pre-order of wine bread from The Candy Shoppe...okay, I confess. TWO. I couldn't just get one! I wanted to be able to take one home with me. Oh my, the wine bread. If you ever do venture up to Bayfield it is a must. If I find out you went up there and didn't try it....well, you better not mention you were there, then. It is that good! We enjoyed a nice dinner at the Rittenhouse and some relaxation later. Friday was a fun day, taking the boys to the beach and having pizza. It was lazy, unplanned, and just a good day. That night we met up with another couple and enjoyed some conversation over beer, Margaritas, Bacardi Limon and Coke, and Vodka Cranberries ..... Then up the next morning to go strawberry pickin'. I could have picked for hours, it was that addicting. We picked one flat, which has provided me with eating them as they are, making ice cream, and freezing some for later. My freezer can only hold so much! Later that morning we met up with some friends that were up for the Fourth from The Cities. Ed and Sarah have two boys, and it was fun watching the six boys in the water together playing, digging, pretending to be sharks. Six? Doesn't 2+2=4? Ah...Gotcha! I'm counting the husbands in there too. Haha. Sarah and I hung back in the dry sand and chatted, took pictures, and just soaked in the view of the boys and their daddies playing and having innocent fun. We left a bit sunburned, tired, and eager for the next time we'll all be Up North again for the Homecoming festivities. I sense more beach, more chatting, more picture taking....and more relaxing.
